Open Government Forum – Expressions of Interest
The Albanese Government is committed to securing Australia’s international status as an open and transparent government, which was put under threat by the former government’s inaction.
Today we are calling for expressions of interest from members of civil society to join Australia’s Open Government Forum, who are tasked with helping Australia deliver on its commitments as a member of the multilateral Open Government Partnership.
Australia joined the initiative in 2015 but in February this year our membership was threatened when the former government failed to submit the third National Action Plan, as required by the partnership.
The Albanese Government reaffirms its commitment to the principles of open government, transparency, accountability and public participation in government decision-making.
With membership drawn from civil society and government, the Forum will be responsible for helping develop, monitor and drive implementation of a robust and ambitious third National Action Plan.
The Forum is expected to be established in early 2023, with work on Australia’s next Action Plan commencing shortly thereafter.
More information about the Open Government Partnership, including how to apply for the Forum, is available on the Attorney General's Department website.
