Appointment to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1)

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dianne Simpson as a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1). Ms Simpson will commence on 3 February 2025 in the Sydney Registry.

This appointment has been made following an open call for expressions of interest across Australia. All applications were considered by an advisory panel comprised of eminent individuals.

Ms Simpson graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in 1992. In 1993, she was admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria. Ms Simpson became an Accredited Specialist in family law in New South Wales in 2009.

On behalf of the Australian Government, I congratulate Ms Simpson on her appointment and thank her for her willingness to serve the people of Australia as Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1).
