Appointment to the Federal Court of Australia
I am pleased to announce that Judge Patrick O'Sullivan has been appointed as judge of the Federal Court of Australia and will commence on 20 January 2022.
Judge O'Sullivan has been appointed to the Adelaide Registry. He was admitted as a solicitor and barrister in the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1981 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2008. He was appointed as a judge of the District Court of South Australia in 2018.
On behalf of the Australian Government, I congratulate Judge O'Sullivan on his appointment and thank him for his willingness to serve the people of Australia as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia.
Judge Patrick O'Sullivan
Judge O'Sullivan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the South Australian Institute of Technology in 1981.
Judge O'Sullivan began his career in 1981 as a solicitor at Lynch & Meyer and was made partner in 1983.
Judge O'Sullivan was appointed Crown Counsel for the Hong Kong Government in 1988 and later Senior Crown Counsel in 1990. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2008 and is a past President of both the Australian Bar Association and the South Australian Bar Association.
